At this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which took place in early January in Las Vegas, NVIDIA showed off “Cosmos” -- what they are calling the first “World Foundation Model,” an AI model that has the potential to be implemented everywhere.
During their press conference, NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang announced that “We’re entering the era of physical AI, AI that can proceed, reason, plan, and act.”
Among the many different announcements made during the address, Huang really focused on NVIDIA’s new “Cosmos” platform, which, according to the tech giant, “advances physical AI with new models and video data processing pipelines for robots, autonomous vehicles and vision AI.”
According to NVIDIA, “Leading robotics and automotive companies, including 1X, Agile Robots, Agility, Figure AI, Foretellix, Fourier, Galbot, Hillbot, IntBot, Neura Robotics, Skild AI, Virtual Incision, Waabi and XPENG, along with ridesharing giant Uber, are among the first to adopt Cosmos.”
Cosmos will allow industries to train robots to operate in a physical space using Artificial Intelligence.
“The models are built for physically based interactions, object permanence, and high-quality generation of simulated industrial environments — like warehouses or factories — and of driving environments, including various road conditions,” NVIDIA wrote in a press release.
Among other innovations shown at CES include multiple companies’ take on a transparent OLED display, AI-enhanced glasses, solar hats that can charge your devices, and, of course, flying cars.
